Technology That Makes Construction Planning Easier

All sorts of software are popping up everywhere. Some of create great animation. Some do your payroll for you. And believe it or not some software actually aid in construction planning. These types software are making mapping out sites and building plans easier than they have ever been.

HOW THINGS USED TO BE

A decade or four ago, getting an estimate and material list on a construction project took a little over a week. That was because estimators had to go through things manually. Those who provided quick estimates were praised, but in the end most of their estimates were wrong. Accuracy was something achieved only by the best and the brightest.

If estimation took time, then planning took ages. Ok, maybe that's an exaggeration. But, it did seem like ages to people waiting to see plans for their homes or buildings. It took so long because each pencil stroke had to be perfect and each cent (budget-wise) had to be accounted for manually. Greenhorns had to recompute their estimates just to make sure everything was just right. That is no longer the case today...

STEP INTO THE FUTURE

When the digital camera came out, purists called it a lazy way of taking pictures. They say that a great photograph is a result of a labor of love. The artist must pour over the chemical basins and check the contrast by eye. Going digital was just a lazy way out. But, hey! Isn't that what we are looking for? Ease and Speed?

The same went for the construction industry. When they introduced Takeoff Software, critics were hissing in the background. They didn't believe in it. Doing it by hand was much better, much more accurate. Software such as that took away the love and dedication in every stroke, in every calculation. Or so they used to say...

But today, rarely anything credible goes up without it. It has become one of the most important pieces of technology a professional in the construction industry could ever have. Plan Software and others like it have become indispensable and there is no doubt that they will continue to be so.

A CONTRACTOR'S DREAM AND AN ESTIMATOR'S HEAVEN

Technologies like Takeoff software and Plan Software have revolutionized the world of construction and estimation. Today, it is used by estimators, engineers, contractors and architects all over the world. You can bet that, that new skyscraper or the new house next door was constructed with the assistance of these technologies. The tasks these items accomplish like coming up with a material list, estimating costs and laying out plans may seem simple and straightforward. But, it does make transactions smoother and life easier for the men and women in the construction business.
