My Xbox 360 Has Flashing Red Lights - What Do I Do Next?
Since the Xbox 360 was released it has unfortunately been plagued with quite a few problems. This may be because it was rushed out on the production line to quickly to beat the PS3 or it could just be an overlooked design flaw.
Whatever the reason, this article will help explain what the flashing red lights mean on your power button and what you should do next to fix this problem.
Firstly depending on how many lights are flashing on the power button it can mean a few different things. The most common error is the Xbox 360 3 Red lights error and it is also one of the most severe as well.
If you have the 3 red lights error then it means you have a "General Hardware Error" and that 1 or more of the components inside the Xbox has broken.
The other common problems are the 1 red lights error, 2 red lights and even a strange error where you put a game in the drive and it refuses to play.
All of the above problems are caused by the console overheating and as the GPU and the CPU take too much heat the soldering snaps off and that is when you will get a game freeze or your machine will crash.
Then when you turn on the Xbox 360 next time around you will notice the red lights flashing.
So how do you stop the red lights flashing?
Well you have 3 options to repair this error:
- Send the console back to Microsoft and have them fix it for you. This is easily done, all you have to do is ring customer service and they will send someone round from UPS to pick up your broken Xbox 360. The only downside with this method is that it takes about 4 - 6 weeks to get your Xbox back from repairs!
- You could just get another Xbox 360 console or be done with them completely by getting a PS or a Wii. Sounds harsh but I know people that have gone to these lengths because they are fed up with all of the problems.
- You could repair the errors yourself by getting a good Xbox 360 Repair guide, and there are a few about online however they do differ in quality and you will have to open your 360 up and this will get rid of any warranty that you have!
So what option would I suggest?
It really is up to you!
If you do not want to mess with the Xbox yourself then send it in and they will fix it for you, however if you have had more than a few problems and are out of warranty anyway you could attempt to repair it yourself.
What have you got to lose?
I hope this article has helped you understand this problem a little better and you get your Xbox fixed soon!
