Age of Conan Gold Guide - A Waste of Money?
If there was the real-life equivalent of a Age of Conan gold guide - you'd buy it wouldn't you? I mean imagine being given a handbook that if you followed any of the pages in it exactly then you would make 500 times more money than you normally make. Certainly I'd get a copy and as long as it all wasn't illegal, immoral or dangerous I'd follow it religiously and make loads of money.
Unhappily despite internet 'make a million' adverts stating the contrary the real life version doesn't exist - but the Age of Conan Gold guide does because I've bought it. Now I've been playing online games for years and years now and the problem I find is simply having enough time to enjoy the fun bits. In every game I ever played there are lots of kids waltzing around with all the equipment, best armour and weapons whilst I am struggling to get anywhere.
There is one simple reason why these kids have so much stuff - they spend 10 times as long playing the game as most people can. If you have your own kids, a job and lots of family responsibilities it's difficult to make time for an hour or two never mind - a day long gaming session. However much I would like to play for hours on end - alas it seems unlikely to happen in the near future.
Anyway having my resigned myself to not playing as much as a 14 year old was difficult but I still want to be able to experience all the sides of each game I play. I didn't want to be the only barbarian wandering around Hyboria on foot - I wanted the gold to buy a horse and learn to ride it.
So I bought a couple of Age of Conan guides - well a gold guide to be more specific as gaining gold seems to be the hardest part of this game. One of them sorted it for me - lots of techniques to which were a complete revelation to me and I started to earn gold much much quicker than I did before.
Apparently these techniques in the Age of Conan Gold Guide I bought are the ones the gold farmers use to make theirs. How much smarter to buy the method rather than the end result once.
The guide that I used most was called Age of Riches and I've written a summary of on the link below - if you're broke like I used to be it might be worth checking out. As for the horse I got it very soon after getting the guide unfortunately I seem to be falling off it most of the time.
